Big up to cable network Ovation TV for bringing us 'Framed' a special week long photography event starting tonight, channel 83 here in Manhattan, check your local provider elsewhere.
There is some interesting programming in the mix but the highlight is undoubtedly the airing of the critically acclaimed BBC 4 series 'The Genius of Photography' which is still showing in the UK. The six part series will be shown in its entirety over two nights starting Monday @ 8.00pm est. This is a real treat because sometimes we are time lagged here in the US and access to such a gem can be much delayed.
Please find some sneak peeks below, hopefully this won't cause any further difficulties with the blog as it seems to have been crashing a bit recently when using Firefox. Let me know if anyone is experiencing such joys.

Thanks for the post. I had never even heard of Ovation TV before, so after reading your post, I called and got it added.
I watched the episode about David LaChapelle last night. It was a pretty good episode, but I really wish they would have gone into his personal life much more. I've studied his art so there wasn't much new going on.
The LaChapelle doc is pretty old - I remember seeing it 5+ years ago
The LaChapelle episode aired a few years ago, on a show on public TV, called "Egg". It's nice to see him evolve; that stuff seems so dated now. The recent floating bodies in the water are very strong.
Just saw the first three episodes of the genius of photography series. They were just what I needed. After seeing all those wonderful film images, I got 10 rolls of koda64 out of my fridge last night. Hopefully I can still manually focus my mesuper pentax...lol

here in the UK, the Genius series was part of 'photography thursday' on BBC4. Other recommended series they showed either side of GoP were 'Twenties in Color' and 'James Ravilious', both worth tracking down episodes for.
