Christopher Morris (L)Well its all done and dusted and I have to say my extraction from NYPH08 was successful. With a stop at Wholefoods to pick up supplies for a home cooked dinner with the Mrs. the first in a week, it was good to get back although there was one final post to knock out for Foto 8, you can read it here.
I had a lot of fun over the 5 days although I was pretty wiped out towards the end and was more then ready to escape the bubble. It was a most social event and a real thrill to meet so many friends, new friends and hero's.
There were more then a few shortcomings along the way. Robert Wright tackles some of the issues here as only he can in such a thoughtful and eloquent way. Its when you read such a well crafted piece as this that you realize why you stick to the fluff stuff. Its like he just pulled a Norfolk on me, genius man ! Wouldn't mind we were sitting next to each other for the entire presentation, I didn't see you take any notes.
Here are some of my NYPH08 personal highlights:
*the Ballen, Wylie, Norfolk, Banning, Parr & Kessells presentations
*the weekend warrior who asked Norfolk "film or digital" during his Q&A and the subsequent response
*the parties
*the sun when it shone
*Stefan Ruiz introducing me to just about everyone - this man, well knows just about everyone, much respect your a real diamond
*meeting Michel Mallard, Mr Phillip Toledano, Steve Pyke, Michael David Murphy
*drinking with Vincent Laforet, Chase Jarvis, Joerg Colberg, Robert Wright - to name a few
*the David Alan Harvey loft party
*being chauffered home after the David Alan Harvey loft party by new BFF Vincent Laforet - your a lifesaver mate, although next time bring the chopper
*being turned down by Tina Barney, classic
*taking my picture with Christopher Morris - he selected the location and insisted on the shades, rockstar !
*running into someone I hadn't seen in 8 years - yes Dennis Milbauer it was a real treat
*oh and of course everyone else I met along the way
*most of the photography
*William Greiner at the KlompChing gallery - a must see for all you colour buffs like me
*being included in the Getty Portraiture show - big thanks to Nancy, Amy, Christina and Elodie
Many thanks to everyone who saw my picture and said they liked it. And many thanks to everyone who has been reading hope you have enjoyed my ramblings. The Foto 8 thing was an interesting creative undertaking which I thoroughly enjoyed. I am proud of what I wrote but its back to business here at Andrew Hetherington Photography. Although we do have a little trip planned leaving on Wednesday, you have been warned.
