CoEdit Collection (CoEdit) is a new kind of online gallery which celebrates the art of editorial and commercial photographers. Founded by photo editor Amy Wolff and professional photographer Tim Klein, CoEdit is hitting the partnership trifecta, bringing together photographers, curators and collectors.
Commercial and editorial photography are home to some of the most talented, innovative and daring photographers in the world—but because of the nature of the industry, much of their finest work is seen only by editors and creative directors. CoEdit recognizes that gap and fills it, serving as a new, vital source of art allowing the work of brilliant artists to be viewed by the entire public.
The CoEdit team takes curation – the act of identifying truly exceptional works of art and put them in the proper context – seriously. More photographs have been taken in the past twelve months than were created in the previous two centuries combined. The in-house curation staff works closely with artists and buyers to navigate the overwhelming selections and possibilities and plan collections which do justice to the featured works. Photographers also have the opportunity to submit work directly to the CoEdit team, creating additional dialogue between CoEdit and the photography community. Once the work is reviewed, CoEdit works together to choose the pieces which best fit the website’s aesthetics.
CoEdit was designed with the belief that a new kind of collector is constantly demanding new sources of art. Those who seek inspiration in the unexpected, see the world in a fresh new way and are looking to discover rising stars will find a home with CoEdit. The process is simple – photographers produce art, CoEdit selects carefully chosen pieces and those who it speaks to purchase it.
Every photograph is personal work from participating artists, as well as other works that have not been previously available to the general consumer making the site one-of-a-kind. So, what sets CoEdit apart from the rest? CoEdit is giving the art world a shot in the arm.
